No Pit Zippers: Pit zippers can be crucial for the right person needing extra breathability, and Columbia decided to not add them in this jacket for a reason. The benefits of not having a pit zip is firstly aesthetics, a cleaner looking jacket. Secondly it eliminates potential points of failure that might need repairing. Zippers can also add bulk and create areas where water could potentially seep in over time. Lastly, the benefit is to cut costs and allow this jacket to be sold at a more affordable price compared to more expensive jackets like this one (see pricing below).
